Okay, so I'm home. I missed a lot of snow, and I missed a lot of people.
But, I will miss Ecuador.
A lot.
The welcome party..last Friday night. We were scheduled to arrive around 11:00 pm. About 30 people from the neighborhood in Cuenca drove almost 4 hours to welcome us, they were waiting in Guayaquil since 10:00 pm. Our plane arrived a little after 1:00 am. It was a serious party atmosphere at the airport..I am actually tearing up as I recall the scene. They were overjoyed to see us...not just the girls, either. I would have been content to just stand back and watch the family celebrate the niƱas that they had not ever met before..their blood relatives. But, I was just as celebrated, which was an amazing feeling. I have a lifetime of stories to tell from the last 7 days..but you'll have to see me in person to get most of them. And, believe me, I am ready to tell them. I have about 350 good pics...here are a couple.
Pic #1 is a neighborhood in the city of Cuenca, right outside the home we stayed in..at dusk. This may be my favorite non-people shot ever.
Pic #2 is La Cascada Giron....from about a mile away. This is surely a wondrous sight of Creation.
Pic #3 is (clockwise) Santiago, Milly, Stephanie, and Jennifer. Son primos. Perhaps my favorite people shot.
More stories and pics to come.
